Sara Bowen Displaying Her Work at Art on the Lake

Art On The Lake, Guntersville’s spring art festival, held at the Guntersville Recreation Center on Sunset Drive, will feature new artists as well as past favorites showcasing an array of mediums from pottery to paintings to handcrafted jewelry to wood pieces.

Sara Bowen has been making and selling pots for 10 years in the Huntsville area as well as offering classes through the Huntsville Museum of Art. She will display her work for the first time at this year’s festival.

Her pottery is known for its botanical features with Alabama’s cotton and hydrangea blooms often depicted on the pots themselves. Much of her work is stoneware pottery and is perfect for everyday use, although she dabbles in sculptural style pottery as well.

“I studied medieval art and have always been fascinated by the things people carry; how an object and a person are connected,” Bowen shared. “My degree was in art history, but I always felt I needed to do something with my hands.”

Bowen’s art can be found on her website at sarabowenpottery.com as well as Facebook and Instagram.
